As soon as you arrive at the Moothi Estate Cellar Door atop the vineyard on Rocky Waterhole Road, the friendly owners, together with Barney, their amiable dog, would give you a warm welcome. You would inevitably be mesmerized by the scenic and tranquil view of the green landscape as they share pleasantries and stories about their especially-crafted wines and of course, Mudgee.

After settling down either in the outdoor or indoor verandah, choose a bottle from their award-winning wines and pair it with a perfect platter.

White Wines

Taste your way through their white wines. The 2017 Moothi Estate Pinot Grigio is bright gold with the typical blush tint. It shows peach and pear characters on the nose. Tropical fruit and grapefruit feature on the textured palate and a crisp finish is accompanied by its inherent hint of sweetness.

The 2017 Moothi Estate Riesling has pale green hues with floral and citrus aromas. Its palate is crisp and fresh with lemon drop and citrus peel, balanced by a subtle sweetness. Its lingering natural acidity allows for excellent cellaring potential.

The 2016 Moothi Estate Viognier has an aromatic white dominated by floral characters on the nose, particularly sweet violets. A robust palate of stone fruits and honeysuckle with subtle oak complexity will give a voluptuous sweet fruit finish.

Red Wines

Their red wines are definitely a must-try. The 2016 Moothi Estate Shiraz has an intense and deep crimson colour. It displays cherry and spices on the nose. The palate is rich and full-bodied showing ripe plum flavours and hints of white pepper.  This wine has excellent structure an length and will continue to age very well.

The 2016 Merlot is medium bodied wine. It shows deep red berries and chocolate on the nose. A mint-choc front palate meets blackberries and faint vanilla with a luscious and velvety smooth texture. This medium-bodied wine is ready to enjoy now or over the years to come.

The 2017 Rosé is made from 100% Shiraz fruit and has strawberry and cream and cherries on the nose. fresh tart blueberries blended with strawberries and floral notes on the palate culminating in a fresh and fruity finish.
